Hiking offer winter 2021

A guided winter hiking weekend with the opportunity to try snowshoes, game over an open fire and a tasting of CalvaDal.

You arrive on Friday afternoon / evening before 6:00 p.m. You settle into your double room with shower, toilet and balcony with lake view over Edslan.

For those who have the opportunity to arrive on Friday afternoon, it is possible to take a hiking trip on your own over the Pilgrimsleden to the top of the Höghedens ski slope. In good weather, you can see Kinnekulle on the other side of Lake Vänern. You will be given a map with you.

The hike is approximately 4 km long.

Dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. During dinner, Johan talks about the weekend's activities and snowshoes in the corner by the fire.

Saturday starts with breakfast between 8:00 and 9:00.

During breakfast everyone packs their own lunch box and we take thermoses of coffee and tea with us. Everyone can bring a pair of snowshoes to try out.

We take the car towards Sörknatten (the filming location for Ronja the Robber's Daughter). Sörknatten is a nature reserve with an impressive mountain ridge several kilometers long. From here we have a mile-wide view of various forests and lakes. We take enough time to enjoy the view, all the views, peace, quiet and the silence around us. Back at the parking lot we cook some game over an open fire. In the evening we have dinner at Wärdshuset. After dinner Johan tells us about and offers a tasting of CalvaDal by the fire.

Sunday starts with breakfast around 8:00 a.m. During breakfast everyone packs their own lunch boxes and we take the snowshoes and thermoses of coffee and tea with us.

Around 10:00 we head towards Edsleskog's old cemetery. During the summer of 2019 and 2020, a group of archaeologists from Lödöse Museum have conducted several excavations and discovered that there appears to be evidence that Sweden's oldest brick church was in Edsleskog.

We continue towards Baljåsen (Dalsland's highest point) and look out over Lake Vänern. There are plenty of viewpoints and rest areas for a break and a coffee. After Baljåsen we head south towards “Åmålsberget” and down towards Ängebytjärnet and up towards Petersborg again and then back towards Wärdsuset in Edsleskog. The terrain is hilly and varied.

We end the weekend in the late afternoon with coffee and fika.

Price 3250 SEK pp for the whole weekend excluding drinks with meals. Minimum number of people 6 / maximum number of people 12. The hiking weekend requires good hiking boots, suitable clothing for the weather and a lunchbox and thermos. On Sunday we go 35 minutes by car. Johan has a bus for 8 guests. If there are more guests, some carpooling is needed.
